Providence Little Company of Mary Visitor Guidelines

Important Update to Visitor Guidelines

New COVID-19 visitation policy effective March 28, 2023

We recognize the important role visitors play in supporting the well-being and recovery of our patients. Quiet hours in the hospital extend from 8pm to 6am daily. We encourage visitation outside of these hours to ensure each patient experiences adequate periods of rest and recovery.

In addition, please stay home if you have cold, flu or COVID-19 signs and/or symptoms in order to protect the health and safety of our patients and prevent the spread of illness. Visitors may not enter the hospital if they were recently diagnosed with COVID-19 and still require isolation, per guidelines from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Visitor Guidelines for Specific Inpatient and Outpatient Areas

  • All visitors above the age of 2 are required to wear a face mask while indoors. Visitors will be asked to wear a hospital-provided mask unless they are wearing a higher-level mask (i.e. N95 or KN95).
  • Visitors must be free from any signs and symptoms of illness (cold, flu, COVID-19) and must not have tested positive for COVID within the past 10 days or require isolation, per LA County Department of Public Health guidance.
  • Visitors are required to check in at the main lobby between 5am and 9pm and at the Emergency Department lobby at all other times. Visitors will be issued an arm band that must be worn throughout their stay.
  • Please check in at the unit nurses’ station before visiting a patient’s room to ensure there are no restrictions in place for the safety of yourself and the patient.
  • Individuals visiting patients that are COVID positive or suspected of having COVID understand and accept the risk involved with potential exposure during their stay. Visitors of this patient population must wear hospital-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow infection control guidelines. The refusal or inability to wear appropriate PPE will restrict you from visiting.
  • General visitation is not restricted, but visitors may be asked to limit the number of individuals at the bedside to avoid interfering with care activities or disrupting others in multi-patient spaces. Visitors may remain in the waiting room while not at the patient bedside.
  • We invite visitors to utilize our cafeteria but ask that you remain masked unless actively eating/drinking and that you maintain physical distance from others while unmasked.
  • The medical center maintains the right to limit visitation when individuals are not complying with security screening guidelines, infection prevention practices — including wearing an appropriate mask covering the nose and mouth — and for any behavior that presents a safety risk to our patients, staff or organization.

Visitor Guidelines for Specific Inpatient and Outpatient Areas

  • Children may visit with adult supervision. Exceptions to this policy are indicated below.
  • NICU visitation is limited to parents only.
  • ICU visitation is limited to two persons at the bedside at a time. In addition, visitation is limited to only the designated support person from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily. Children under the age of 12 are highly discouraged from visiting the ICU.
  • Pediatrics visitation is limited to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., except for immediate family. Visitors must be 18 or older, unless they are siblings of a patient.
  • Inpatient behavioral health visitation is permitted for adults (18+) only from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. daily. We do not allow visitors in our outpatient behavioral health unit – with very limited exceptions – due to patient care needs.
  • Skilled nursing facilities continue to be under more stringent county and federal guidelines and may have more restrictive visitation policies in place. Please contact each facility for up-to-date information.
