Providence has adopted new procedures that align with our Mission and ensure all patients have access to financial assistance.

Why it matters: A new law in Oregon, HB 3320, requires hospitals to prescreen patients who are uninsured, those with state-funded programs, and those with bills greater than $500 to see if they are eligible for financial assistance.

  • Providence has implemented a policy which prescreens all hospital patients in Oregon.
  • The policy applies to billing for hospital services, including hospital outpatient departments.

Action needed

Patients may have questions about the prescreening. Make sure your team understands the changes and how to direct patients for assistance.

  • Review financial assistance FAQs, which includes contact information for our financial assistance team, 855-229-6466.
  • Direct patients with questions to the online FAQs or have them call the financial assistance team.
