Jennifer Burrows, RN
Chief Executive
Providence Oregon
I want to share some difficult news. Over the Christmas holiday Krista Farnham decided it was time to step away from Providence and in the short-term focus on her family.
Krista has been with Providence more than 20 years, serving since 2018 as chief executive for Providence Portland Medical Center and the Oregon Eastern Service Area.
Krista is a servant leader, and expertly guided our east side hospitals through COVID, nursing strikes, anesthesia changes and a myriad of challenges, always focused on serving her core leaders and caregivers, so that they, in turn, could care for those who come to us in need.
True to Krista’s leadership nature, she does not want to leave her team in anything other than a stable time. For that reason she has been fluid with her departure date to help prepare and manage the ongoing nursing strike. Now, even as the strike has been extended, our work on it has settled into a more predictable path. As such, it is time for us to share that Krista’s last day will be Feb 28.
I will immediately start to engage with the East Service Area to develop both an interim strategy and to begin to recruit for a permanent replacement.
I want to thank Krista for her commitment to our Mission over the last two decades and I know she will be missed. Please join me in wishing her the best.
Message from Krista Farnham
Dear Providence Colleagues,
I am writing to share with you that I have made the difficult decision to leave Providence. I know this is a challenging time with the ongoing ONA strike. As we enter the fourth week of the strike, I see our core leaders managing well and we continue to serve our patients and community. We are in a place where we can continue to serve everyone who comes to us for care, so my last day will be Feb. 28.
I am grateful to have been a part of this remarkable team for the last 22 years. Providence is an amazing place doing incredible work caring for so many and saving lives, with compassion and a dedication to excellence. We have accomplished so much together to improve the lives of those who come to us in need.
These last few years have been especially challenging and what I have witnessed is your unwavering dedication to caring for the whole person – our patients, their families, and each other. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it.
With gratitude,
Krista
