On behalf of the Oregon leadership team, I want to share a note of thanks from Erik Wexler, Providence’s chief operating officer – and beginning next year, our president and chief executive officer.

Erik visited Portland earlier this week as part of a comprehensive listening tour he is on this fall.

As Erik says below, I appreciate everyone sharing honest feedback during his visit. We have so many great opportunities ahead of us to transform health care and deliver on our Mission.

Providence

Visiting our ministries always deeply moves me. Hearing your stories and seeing the dedication of our caregivers and core leaders to Providence’s Mission, promise and values is inspiring.

Earlier this week, I traveled to Portland to meet with physicians, caregivers and core leaders from throughout Oregon. My primary goal was to have dialogue and engagement as I prepare to take on the role of president and CEO at Providence.  These meaningful discussions out in the field provide the insights and information we need to best support you, our partners and the communities we serve.

As we enter 2025, this will be an ever-increasing opportunity to advance and transform the care we provide to the poor and vulnerable. As leaders, we must be open to learning and listening more than ever.

After my listening tour wraps up later this year, I’ll be sharing a full report on what you and other caregivers talked about during visits like this one. I’m finding many common themes that we will address.

I want to thank everyone for being open and candid. I am immensely grateful for your efforts to ensure that patients always receive top-notch, compassionate care.

Please know that this listening tour will not be my last. I am thankful to be part of something so inspiring and so powerful, and I am truly humbled by how all of you live our Mission every day.
