What’s in the updated booster? The first approved updates to the COVID booster are bivalent. That means that the booster contains both alpha and omicron antigens to help restore protection by targeting variants that are currently circulating.

Who can get it?
  • Pfizer is available for people ages 12 years and older.
  • Moderna is available for people ages 18 years and older.

When should you get it? You should get the updated bivalent booster at least two months after your primary COVID vaccination series. It doesn’t matter how many previous monovalent booster doses you’ve received. And, you can get it at around the same time as the flu vaccine.
