RESOLVE: A partnership to reimagine rural health care delivery

Providence RESOLVE team at Nov. 19, 2025 launch event.

RESOLVE, a program of the Providence Institute for Clinical Innovation, is a strategic collaboration between Providence and the University of Montana to establish the nation’s leading alliance for rural health research and innovation. RESOLVE will work to activate and engage rural communities as partners in health care innovation. Its collaborative research and innovation projects are expertly designed to improve access and outcomes for rural populations.

RESOLVE brings together the reach, scale and data assets of a large community health system with an extensive rural care footprint and the academic rigor, innovative spirit and deep rural health expertise of a flagship public university. With our blended expertise and scope, we are poised to design, deploy and scale innovations to transform rural health care.

RESOLVE’s shared goals include:

      • Activate a rural research engine: Create an engine that activates and supports rural health caregivers as scientists, thought leaders and change agents within the health care system to improve health outcomes of identified rural health populations.

      • Ensure access to innovation for rural communities: Identify, test and deploy strategies to extend key innovations and care improvements into rural settings to ensure access to advanced care practices and improve rural outcomes

      • Support rural-led innovation: Make it easier for rural patients and providers to participate as sources of innovation by translating their experiences and ideas into transformational projects with broad impact.
