Providence Inland Northwest Washington is proud to partner with the Stevens County Sheriff’s Ambulance (SCSA), a nonprofit organization that provides high-level emergency medical care to the community and local critical access hospitals 24/7 through highly trained paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
In 2025, Providence contributed funding to SCSA to support the sustainability of advanced life support services, ensuring continued patient care and transport throughout the region.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Ambulance serves approximately 20,000 residents across nearly 2,000 square miles of rural and remote terrain, where timely access to advanced medical care is often limited. SCSA’s goal is to deliver prompt, advanced prehospital care to all residents through the continued development and sustainment of advanced life support capabilities.
Bill Buscher, operations manager for SCSA, said Providence’s funding has directly supported the training, staffing and equipping of advanced life support providers, strengthening the emergency response system across Stevens County and surrounding communities.
“Providence’s advanced life support sustainability funding ensures our paramedic team can respond quickly when every second matters,” Buscher said. “We’ve seen firsthand how timely, expert care saves lives, comforts families and helps patients recover more fully. Beyond individual emergencies, this support strengthens the health and safety of our entire community by enabling reliable, high-quality care and giving residents peace of mind knowing help is always close at hand.”
