Facey Black Physicians Council Host Vaccine Town Hall
The COVID vaccine can now be given to all adults over the age of 65 in Los Angeles County and even more people will be eligible to receive it in the coming weeks and months.
Whether or not you’ve decided to get the COVID vaccine, there’s a good chance that you have other questions besides “when will it be available at Facey?” Facey’s Black Physician Council invites you to learn more with this recording of the town hall and live Q&A we presented on February 6, 2021.
In addition to providing background on the virus and the vaccine, they address concerns that are unique to the Black community. We can’t talk about this vaccine without acknowledging events in this nation’s history that built layers of mistrust and fear on top of health initiatives backed by the federal government. This is the first of what we hope will be many Facey-hosted conversations about health and the Black community. Race is a sensitive issue and at Facey and our partner, Providence, we are committed to finding ways to end racial inequities in health care. We are working to have these important conversations with other ethnic groups as well in the near future.
The town hall hosted by Facey Immediate Care physician Rafael Montalvo, M.D. also features the following Facey physicians:
- Chizobam Ani, M.D. - Hospitalist
- Ana Sofia Lopes, M.D. - Facey Immediate Care
- Daniel Lewis, M.D. - Internal Medicine, Facey Tarzana
