Each year, the Integrated Healthcare Association’s (IHA) recognizes provider organizations that earn an overall rating of 5 or 4.5 stars against national benchmarks established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) across a set of Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) performance measures. Facey Medical Group was one of 43 medical groups that achieved a 4.5 Star rating in IHA’s 2022 Medicare Stars program for measurement year (MY) 2021, a recognition Facey also received in 2020 (MY 2019) and 2019 (MY 2018).
High-quality, cost-effective care is a universal goal but not an easy achievement. This year, only 5 of 174 participating medical groups achieved 5-star ratings from IHA and 43 groups received 4.5 star ratings, including Facey and St. John's Physician Partners in the Providence family. This year’s rankings were released on the IHA website on March 8, 2023. Facey Medical Group also earned "Most Improved" recognition for 2022 for raising their score by at least 1/2 a star compared to the 2021 rankings.
“Caring for our senior patients has been a longstanding priority at Facey,” says Facey Medical Group Director of Quality Donald Huey, M.D. “Our continued focus on preventive care improves the lives of our senior patients and also helps to reduce the chances of them having to endure both the cost and the discomfort of serious health problems in their later years. That kind of dedication to our patients is the result of many teams working tirelessly both in front of and behind the scenes.”
Thank you to all our operations teams, Medical Directors and providers, and the Providence California quality team for leading this award-winning work to care for our patients. It takes all of us together to do this work! You can learn more about the methodologies used by IHA for their Medicare Stars program here.
