Expanded collaboration will provide convenient access to same-day, quality care
Deerfield, IL & Renton, WA—Walgreens and Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) have just announced an expanded retail clinic collaboration. PSJH will operate and provide all clinical services at seven additional retail health clinics to be located within Walgreens stores across Washington and Oregon.
“We’re thrilled to be opening new Express Care clinics in these communities and expanding our partnership with Walgreens,” says Sunita Mishra, M.D., chief executive of Express Care, PSJH. “Consumers need and want easy, quick access to quality care, and these new locations provide that convenience and expertise–offering same-day or walk-in appointments, simple online scheduling, transparent pricing and treatment for common illnesses and injuries. Our goal is to ease the way for patients, providing a connected care experience between PSJH—a trusted health-care provider—and retail locations close to home.”
This expansion is the latest development in a retail-health partnership dating back to 2015. In August 2015, Walgreens and PSJH announced a strategic clinical collaboration aimed at coordinating patient care and improving patient access. Since 2016, PSJH has operated more than 20 retail clinics in Walgreens stores. There are currently 12 Providence Express Care at Walgreens locations in the Portland, Oregon market and 11 Swedish Express Care at Walgreens locations in the Seattle area.
“Together, with Providence St. Joseph, we’ve had a very successful and productive collaboration with all of the existing Providence and Swedish Express Care at Walgreens clinics in operation in the Portland and Seattle areas,” said Pat Carroll, M.D., Walgreens chief medical officer and group vice president, health care services and clinical programs. “Providence and their affiliates have an outstanding reputation as health services providers in the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to expanding our existing relationship with Providence as they share our commitment to provide convenient access to high quality and affordable health care services.”
Five of the seven new retail clinics will be branded Providence Express Care at Walgreens, including two locations in the Spokane, Washington area; one in Lake Stevens, Washington outside of Seattle; and two in the Portland, Oregon area.
The other two new retail clinics will be located in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state and will be branded Kadlec Express Care at Walgreens. Kadlec Regional Medical Center is an affiliate of PSJH based in Richland, Washingotn that’s been serving the state’s southeast region since opening its doors in 1944.
