Kendall Sawa has been named chief operating officer for Providence Portland Medical Center. Sawa currently serves as the chief executive for Providence Seaside Hospital and North Coast Service Area. He will begin his new role Nov. 5.
Prior to joining Providence, Sawa spent nearly 20 years with PeaceHealth, a non-profit health system that has a presence in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. Kendall served in a variety of leadership positions within the organization, including chief administrative officer, and chief executive officer for a community hospital under a management agreement with PeaceHealth. Additionally, Sawa is a registered nurse and has experience serving in a variety of direct care and nursing leadership positions.
“Kendall’s wealth of leadership and clinical experience prepares him well for his new role at Providence Portland,” said Krista Farnham, chief executive, Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence Eastern Region. “He is a servant leader committed to our Mission of caring for the poor and vulnerable.”

Providence Portland Medical Center is a tertiary referral center with 483 licensed beds, more than 3,100 employees and 1,200 medical staff members.
