Nursing project coordinator shares what drives her to live our shared promise.
Michelle Williams’ path to Providence Swedish has been shaped by meaningful, personal experiences that sparked her commitment to healthcare.
Throughout her life, Michelle witnessed firsthand the profound impact that compassionate care can have—both her parents worked at her community hospital; her mom as a day-shift nurse in the ICU and her dad as a night-shift radiologist. She has fond memories of family dinners at the hospital, where she’s always felt comfortable.
“I've always felt like I could help. I'm not medically trained to do anything, but I know a lot about the hospital,” Michelle shared.
Michelle’s collected quite the institutional knowledge since she started at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) 27 years ago. She began her career at the switchboard, where she learned to guide callers to the right departments of the medical center. She now leverages her deep knowledge as a project coordinator for the nursing administration team, where she’s become the go-to person to find solutions and connect the right teams. For Michelle, it’s all about seeing others, caring for them, and easing their way.
“Everyone needs to be approached with compassion,” Michelle says. “You never know what someone's dealing with. I try to make sure every person I speak with feels heard and cared for, no matter what.”
Michelle’s compassion for others extends to her off-hours as well. She says she’s a mom through and through, not just for her own four children, but also any of their friends who needed support. Her boys joke she’d offer a meal and a safe place to land to just about anyone.
“We were just always that kind of family,” Michelle says
When Michelle isn’t caring for others, she enjoys hunting for unique and vintage clothes and other antiques. She’s particularly proud of her vintage Pyrex and cookbook collections. And while her children are now full-grown, she still hosts a family Sunday dinner to bring everyone together for good food and laughter. For Michelle, these moments away from work help her recharge and bring her best self to work.
Grateful for the relationships she’s built and the meaningful work she gets to do each day, Michelle looks forward to continuing her journey with Providence Swedish—guided by our shared promise of “Know me, care for me, ease my way,” inspired by those around her and always ready to make a positive impact.
