Lai's story: Committed to Providence

"Lab guy" shares his Proudly Providence Swedish story.

Lai Huynh, affectionately known as "the lab guy," has been a valued member of the Providence family for over 24 years. As senior director overseeing labs on three campuses, Lai’s technical expertise and leadership have left a lasting impact. Originally from Vietnam, Lai’s personal journey has been shaped by hard work, determination, and the support of others.

A proud father to three “boys,” now grown men in their 20s, Lai’s youthful appearance and energy often surprise people when they learn he has older kids. He’s completed several half marathons and is still an avid runner, often seen running between campuses to stay fit while on the go. Outside of work, Lai gives back to his community through his nonprofit Vietnamese youth soccer organization. His commitment to self-improvement is clear in everything he does—always pushing forward and striving for more.

Lai said, "What keeps me here is, you know, my family is rooted here, but also my other family, the Providence family, keeps me around and keeps me active. It's the reason why I go to work."

Lai understands the importance of lifting others up, just as so many people have done for him throughout his own journey. Whether it’s guiding his team to success, or supporting their personal and professional growth, Lai takes great pride in easing the way of those around him. This mindset fuels his leadership style and helps his colleagues thrive.

At the heart of Lai’s work is his Providence Swedish family. The strong relationships he’s built, combined with the shared purpose behind everyone at Providence Swedish, keep him grounded and motivated. For Lai, this isn’t just a job—it’s an opportunity to make a real difference and help others succeed.
