Cambree’s story: Driven by kindness

Everett medical education manager is always ready to help.

Cambree McCoy’s journey to Providence Swedish isn’t your typical career path to health care. In her final year of college as a broadcast journalism major, Cambree watched television coverage of the heartbreaking events at Sandy Hook and realized journalism wasn’t her calling – but she knew she wanted to help people and support her community when it matters most.

As she searched for her new path after graduation, Cambree began a front desk job at Providence Swedish’s Neuroscience Institute, which led to other roles within the organization.  When she and her husband purchased a home in Everett a few years later, she knew it was time to find a role at her hometown hospital – Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE).

“I had been in health care for a few years and just knew that I wanted to work at Providence because I wanted to serve the community I grew up in,” Cambree shared. “I got a patient experience role, and the rest is history.”

Now a decade later, Cambree is the medical education manager. She loves working with new doctors and residents as they take their first steps in medicine, helping them find their footing, sharing what she’s learned along her journey, and cheering them on. Being that steady supporter, especially for someone new, is something she finds truly rewarding.

For Cambree, Providence Swedish isn’t just a workplace—it’s a team of people lifting each other up and investing in one another’s growth and learning.

Thanks to the tuition reimbursement program, Cambree has continued her own education journey as well (and encourages everyone to use this awesome benefit). She completed her master’s degree in health care administration and recently became one of less than 3,000 in the country to receive the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification. Yet the skills she learned in her undergraduate program—listening closely, asking the right questions, and communicating clearly—are still some of her biggest assets, she says.

Cambree’s drive to help others doesn’t stop once she’s off the clock. She spends weekends baking fresh muffins for her neighbors, handing out popsicles to kids on hot days and lending a helping hand wherever it’s needed. She also enjoys spending time with her family and relaxing at home, playing soccer with her two boys, tending to her garden, reading a good book, and attending Seahawks games with her dad.

No matter who could use a little help, Cambree embraces others with kindness, resilience, and dedication, making her a living example of Providence’s Mission to care for all, especially those who need us most.
