From patient care to community-driven practice

Jonathan joined Providence Swedish as a resident at the Providence-WSU Internal Medicine Center in Everett—a unique partnership between Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE), Providence Medical Group (PMG), and Washington State University (WSU) Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. His experience at PRMCE shaped his clinical skills and deepened his understanding of compassionate, community-based care. Jonathan now works as a primary care physician at PMG’s internal medicine clinic in Monroe.

“I stayed with Providence Swedish because of the people and the culture here. The excellent training and mentorship I received during my residency made it clear this was the right place to continue my journey,” said Jonathan.

In his residency, Jonathan says he was trained not only in medicine but also in compassion and building trust—especially during the most challenging moments. He recalls bonding over a love of western movies with a patient navigating their final chapter of life. That small connection led to a meaningful and heartfelt discussion about his patient’s care options while honoring their wishes and values.

For Jonathan, compassion is at the heart of every patient interaction. Sometimes that’s building trust over shared interests; other times it’s helping them understand the complex diagnosis they’ve just received. He says his natural affinity for teaching and expanding his own knowledge makes his new role the perfect fit, and he feels most fulfilled helping his patients understand their health and empowering them to take charge of their care plan.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with loved ones, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and diving into a good book. Continuing his career with Providence Swedish has allowed Jonathan to continue serving a community he cares deeply about, while remaining close to his own family in Kenmore.

Jonathan says he recognizes that the services he provides are rooted in our shared value of Justice. He works to ensure every patient feels seen and respected, regardless of their background, and that they understand their circumstances never affect the quality of care they receive. No matter who walks through the door, Jonathan shows up with compassion and unwavering dedication to his patients—embodying the very heart of the Mission to care for all, especially those most in need.
