A Second Chance: Jason’s Journey to a New Kidney

June 18, 2026 Covenant Health Team

For Jason, the road to a new kidney was anything but easy.

After undergoing a double nephrectomy in 2024, he depended on dialysis while waiting for a life-saving transplant. Each day brought physical challenges, emotional hurdles, and uncertainty about what the future might hold.

That future changed on August 10, 2025, when Jason received the kidney transplant he had been waiting for.

Today, he is thriving. He has returned to work, recently married his wife, Dianna, and is enjoying a quality of life he once wasn't sure he would experience again.

Throughout his transplant journey, Jason found unwavering support from Dr. Lynsey Biondi and the kidney transplant team at Covenant Medical Center. He credits the team for being informative, compassionate, and present through every step of the process, helping build a strong sense of trust and confidence during one of the most challenging periods of his life.

Inspired by his own experience, Jason is now dedicated to helping others navigate kidney disease, dialysis, and transplantation. He has launched a Facebook support group, volunteers as a patient advocate, and connects with dialysis and transplant patients around the world. He is also preparing to publish his book, Jason's Journey: A Quest for a Kidney, to encourage and inspire those who are still waiting for their own second chance.

Jason remains deeply grateful to his donor and the donor's family and hopes to one day thank them personally.

His message to anyone considering organ donation is simple:

"Just do it. It could make a life-changing impact."

Jason was the fifth patient to receive a kidney transplant through Covenant Medical Center's Kidney Transplant Program. Since launching last year, the program has now completed 10 kidney transplants in its first year—a meaningful milestone that represents more than clinical achievement. It reflects lives transformed, families restored, and the extraordinary impact of organ donation made possible through expert, compassionate care.

For Jason, that milestone is personal. It represents a second chance at life—and an opportunity to help others find hope on their own journey.
