Apoorva Somayazulu joined CORE in November 2024 as a program manager, bringing her passion for empowering equitable health system transformation through quality improvement (QI), community engagement, and trauma-informed care. Her previous experience includes working in QI and health equity at Oregon Health & Science University, with a focus on identifying and eliminating disparities in healthcare experiences and outcomes. She also served as a trainer in a trauma-informed care educational program.
Apoorva holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health from Portland State University and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Washington. Outside of work, Apoorva enjoys live music, traveling, cooking, and baking. In fact, soon after joining CORE in late 2024, Apoorva was one of the finalists in our inaugural CORE bake-off!
Yan Liu joined our team in January 2025 as a data analyst. Her role includes supporting survey work, survey and data analysis, and developing insightful data visualizations.
Yan’s past experience includes contributing to mental health research projects at Oregon Health & Science University and the University of Minnesota. She also brings over a decade of full-time experience in personnel and financial management. Yan holds a Master of Science in Biostatistics from the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, a Bachelor of Science in Physics, and a Master of Management in Management Science and Engineering from universities in China. Rosemelly received her Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from Brown University in 2024 and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in sociology and public health from the University of California, Merced. At Brown, she received a community engagement award for her work alongside her father on her master’s thesis, a hearing hygiene study of California truck drivers that combined traditional and non-traditional research approaches. Her passion for advancing health equity, particularly in Latine, Hispanic, and underrepresented communities, is also reflected in her work during the COVID-19 pandemic to make COVID-related health information accessible to monolingual Spanish speakers in California’s Central Valley. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, reading, and going to the movies.
