The Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) is excited to present two sessions at the 81st annual Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) conference. The two-day annual conference and OPHA meeting takes place on October 14-15, 2025, at Wingspan in Hillsboro, Oregon. See below for details on CORE's presentations!

CORE session info - Housing Insecurity & Health: Data, Challenges, and Solutions
Wednesday, October 15th, 1:45 - 3:00 pm

Join CORE research scientist Monique Gill and data and analytics manager Megan Holtorf for a session exploring research on the impact of housing insecurity on healthcare use among Oregon Health Plan members, methods to improve identification of houselessness in medical records, and insights from a housing benefit pilot program. Discover practical strategies addressing housing needs alongside healthcare to improve outcomes and reduce acute care utilization.

  • Housing Insecurity is Associated with Higher Utilization of Acute Care Services Among Oregon Health Plan Members with Behavioral Health Conditions: Megan Holtorf’s presentation will explore the impacts of housing insecurity and substance use disorder (SUD) on the utilization of acute care services, including hospital admissions and length of stay, among Oregon Health Plan members.
  • Addressing Housing as a Health-Related Social Need: Insights and impacts from Health Share’s Housing Benefit Pilot Program: Monique Gill’s presentation will discuss impacts of the pilot, including sharing clients' housing, health, and social outcomes after exiting the program, and presenting a comparative time series analysis that examines healthcare utilization before and after the program.
