Does the volume on your television threaten to rattle your windows? Do a large portion of your conversations include the phrases, “What?” and “Excuse me?” or “Could you please repeat that?” Has the problem gotten worse as you’ve gotten older?

It could be presbycusis—hearing loss that occurs gradually as you age.

Hearing loss is one of the most common health conditions affecting the senior population today. That doesn’t mean, however, that you have to suffer in silence just because you’ve reached “a certain age.”

Hearing aids, assistive devices, bone anchored systems and implants, or acquiring new skills like lip reading can all help bring the sound back into your day.

The quiz below will help determine if you may have a hearing loss and if it’s time to reach out to a hearing specialist for a formal hearing test. Don’t let your senior years be silent if they don’t have to be.
