Providence Swedish Cancer Institute is dedicated to providing high-quality care close to home. Currently, the Lacey clinic serves more than 9,100 patients annually, supporting approximately 82,000 visits each year. These volumes reflect both the increasing demand for oncology services in South Puget Sound and the strong trust our community places in our care teams.
A cornerstone of these services is the clinic's Linear Accelerator (LinAc), an essential tool in radiation oncology. This technology delivers targeted radiation therapy to destroy cancer cells while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. Just as important, having this capability locally ensures patients can receive critical treatment here in Lacey – without having the added burden of traveling to Tacoma and beyond.
Looking ahead, the Lacey clinic is preparing for an upgrade to next-generation LinAc technology. While the current system continues to serve patients reliably, newer advancements will further elevate care by increasing treatment precision, expanding available treatment options, reducing exposure to healthy tissue and improving overall patient outcomes.
As we plan for these enhancements, it is important to emphasize that fully operational radiation therapy services are available in Lacey today. Our existing LinAc remains a vital part of care delivery, ensuring patients across the region have consistent, convenient access to life-saving treatment.
