Providence St. Peter Medical Staff Provider Excellence Award of Merit

Dr. White and Dr. Nguyen have been instrumental in establishing the comprehensive stroke program. Their efforts have strengthened our ability to provide exceptional stroke care to our community and beyond. They remain consistently responsive to Emergency Department physicians and work tirelessly to assess patients, support decision-making, and facilitate the most appropriate and safe care.

Dr. Hoffman is such a pleasure to work with! She consistently exemplifies all of Providence’s Core Values in her interactions with the ED physicians, APPs and patients. Even when the “wheels are coming off the bus” in terms of ED admission volumes and acuity she is always calm, compassionate and diligent in discussions about the patients and their care needs and admission plans. She is an asset to the hospitalist group and hospital.
Providence Centralia Hospital Physician Excellence Award

Dr. Nishiyama has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to the medical staff, his colleagues, and the patients served at PCH. For nearly 19 years, he has been a trusted partner, mentor, and colleague and has generously devoted personal time to committee service year after year. His knowledge, experience, and thoughtful perspective have strengthened medical staff operations and patient care. Dr. Nishiyama leads with integrity, humility, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference. He is deeply committed to his patients and is known for providing high-quality, compassionate care.
On the day of the meeting, Dr. Scalici sent the following message, which Dr. Stevens read during the event: This award is being given to a one-of-a-kind human being. When I was a baby doctor 19 years ago, he was always there for me to help me through some of my most challenging days. He gave to Providence all through his career the kind of care that made women send their friends, families, and daughters to him. He contributed countless hours in leadership roles and many of you had his signature on your credentialing packet! He has always stood for what was right even when that was the tough thing to do. My nickname for him was Sensei because he was always a wise guide I could lean on for clinical advice. His career’s hallmark was kind, compassionate quality care and to that he never wavered. He is one of the doctors that helped Providence attain the high-class care reputation it has. He will be sorely missed, and his retirement is well deserved. Many fish will now fear the whisper of his name! And he can enjoy many special sunsets with his Ohana.
