Medical Staff spotlight: Heather McClellan

December 18, 2023

In January 2024, the Medical Staff Office underwent restructuring to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our services to better support our medical staff members. As part of this reorganization, Heather McClellan now oversees the credentialers. Her responsibilities include managing the initial appointment and reappointment processes, providing support to the PCH and PSPH Credentials Committees, and continuing to assist the PSPH Perinatal Services Departmental Committee.

Heather McClellan is a devoted professional who has been a part of the Medical Staff Office since September 2012. She has consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to promoting excellence in medical staff functions and patient care. Heather brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role and is highly regarded by her colleagues for her unwavering commitment and professionalism.

Heather is truly an asset to both the Medical Staff Office and the South Puget Sound. Her steadfast dedication and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable member of the team. Here are some interesting facts about Heather:

  • She has traveled to 21 states and 7 countries.  Mostly through cruises for the countries and she will be adding a couple more in 2024. Heather is hoping to add Portugal and other European countries soon.
  • Heather enjoys reading, though in the last few years she’s more into audio books and podcasts.  Recommendations welcome!
  • She grew up on 60 acres (40 of which had to be mowed and she strongly dislikes having to mow now) that had a landscape nursery on it.  Heather can grow pretty much any kind of plant/tree/flower.
  • She has swum in all the oceans bordering the US – including snorkeling in a volcano in Hawaii and snorkeling in Alaska (NOT recommended).
  • Heather has fur babies/3 cats – Jarvis, Axel, and Emma, and her partner balances her out with 5 kids and one cat.
  • Ben and Jerry’s Milk and Cookies is the best ice cream.
