We continue revising and updating our bylaws with new ideas and changes to current systems that help strengthen clinical practice and optimize the delivery of care across our hospital. As a high-reliability organization in healthcare, we encourage every member of the team to provide feedback, and it is this feedback that drives further development of these new ideas. I want to laud the efforts of the Medical Staff Peer Review Committee for their diligence in identifying these opportunities. Their efforts directly support our commitment to continuous improvement and excellent patient outcomes.
Some of the changes we have made include:
- Incorporation of specialty-specific metrics into the OPPE review process, which will bring both Centralia and St. Peter medical staffs into compliance with national standards
- Implementation of new systems processes and software to streamline onboarding, credentialing and recredentialing
- Revising hospital bylaws to bring PCH into close alignment with PSPH, and integrating best practices that have been proven at other sites within the Providence-Swedish system
I recognize the strain evident that the current political climate and budgetary considerations have wrought, and their evolving effects on staffing, resources and care delivery. I am thankful for the professionalism, compassion, and dedication our staff bring to work every day even under these pressures.
As a medical staff, we will continue to advocate for resources, protect our core services, and seek creative solutions to our current challenges, so that we remain steadfast in serving all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
