Are you 65 or older? Learn how to confirm eligibility and schedule your vaccination

February 26, 2021 Providence News Team

Beginning 9 a.m., Monday, March 1, some COVID vaccine appointments will be available for patients 65 and older.

Please be patient during the scheduling process as Oregon’s vaccine supply is limited. Oregon Health Authority estimates that it may take many weeks to provide first doses of the vaccine to everyone who is currently eligible that wants it.

Providence is working with other health systems to provide vaccines in the Portland area.

There are two locations where you can receive the vaccine:

  • The Portland International Airport drive-through vaccination site
  • The Oregon Convention Center vaccination clinic

Please note that the Oregon Convention Center does require standing, walking, and using the elevator. There will be extra support for people who request it. This includes wheelchairs and people to escort you quickly through the process.

Please note that eligibility to receive the vaccine is determined by the Oregon Health Authority. Scheduling online is the fastest way to get an appointment.

Follow these steps to schedule your vaccine appointment:

  • Go to the Oregon Health Authority website: covidvaccine.oregon.gov.
  • Find the vaccine chat tool by clicking on the round orange button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Answer the questions to confirm that you are eligible. The tool then will direct you to information on how to schedule your vaccine appointment.
  1. First question: Choose “vaccine eligibility.”
  2. Second question: Choose “yes” to determine your eligibility.
  3. Third question: Choose your age category.
  4. Fourth question: Choose your location.
    • If you live in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, or Columbia counties, choose “yes.”
    • If you live in another county, chose “no.” Then click the “Vaccine Locations” button to select your county, and follow the instructions for your area.
  5. Fifth question: You will be asked whether you have a mobility related disability.
    • If you choose “yes,” select either the drive-through vaccination site at Portland International Airport, or the vaccination clinic at Oregon Convention Center. Then follow the scheduling instructions.
    • If you choose “no,” please follow scheduling instructions for Oregon Convention Center.

If no appointments are available, continue checking back every few days. More appointments will become available as our supply increases.

You can print these instructions to use while making your appointment on the computer. Look for the “print” button at the top of this message.

If you need help using the online tool, consider working with a family member or trusted friend.

You can select the phone option for vaccination in Columbia, Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties. Answer the questions to confirm that you are eligible. You then will be connected to a scheduling team to assist you.

The 211 line may be busy as schedulers from Oregon Health Authority work to help others. You are welcome to stay on hold for assistance or follow the prompts to ask for a return call.
