To our public school employee friends with SEBB coverage effective January 1, 2020.

For 75 years, Kadlec has been proud to be the leading provider of health services for residents of the Tri-Cities and surrounding region. This includes the dedicated teachers and classified staff who serve the children of our communities.

You should know by now your benefits selection process is changing this year, moving to one statewide menu of choices, not individual school district plans as you’ve had in the past. One important difference is that coverage is changing to a calendar year schedule (your open enrollment occurs from October 1 through November 15), with the new coverage taking effect on January 1, 2020. This is different from what you’re used to, with the benefits year traditionally starting on November 1.

Additionally, as you make your benefits choices for the coming year, there are some key provisions of your health insurance options that we would like to make sure you fully understand. You have plans from three organizations to choose from. We’re pleased that Kadlec is an in-network provider in two of the SEBB plans:

  • Uniform Medical Plan (UMP) administered by Regence Blue Shield
  • Kaiser Permanente

Both of these SEBB plans offer multiple plan options that you can evaluate and make the best choice for you and your family. You also need to know that Kadlec is not in-network for the Premera Heritage Prime network plans that will be offered to the SEBB members in 2020. If you have had Premera plan insurance coverage through the school district in the past, you will need to select one of the other SEBB plan options (UMP or Kaiser) for 2020 in order to continue in-network care with Kadlec providers. If you select a Premera SEBB plan for 2020, you may still choose to receive care at Kadlec; however, the benefits would be processed out-of-network.

Please note that this change does not impact other non-SEBB Premera plans. Kadlec remains in-network for non-SEBB Premera plans that use the Heritage network. Kadlec is out of network for all Premera plans using the Heritage Prime network, including SEBB.

We want to make sure you have the latest and most accurate information as you make these important choices. For more information, contact:

Thank you for your service to our children. We at Kadlec look forward to caring for you and your family.
