Home infusion therapy: How we’re keeping you healthy and safe with convenient treatment

At Providence, our home infusion pharmacy program is changing the way we provide care. Now, care is easier to access than ever because we use innovative technology to provide care that doesn’t require you to be homebound. We are committed to patient safety, quality and outcomes; our clinicians are trained and certified in IV home infusion therapy.

What conditions does home infusion therapy treat?

Home infusion therapy can support individuals with many acute and chronic conditions, including:

  • Infections
  • Gastrointestinal diseases and disorders
  • Malnutrition
  • Dehydration
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Hemophilia
  • Immune deficiencies
  • Neurological disorders

How does home infusion help keep you safe?

When you or a loved one need infusion therapy to manage a health condition, the last thing you want is to make multiple trips to the hospital, doctor’s office or pharmacy. A home infusion pharmacy program can often deliver specialty IV medication and care right to your own home. This helps reduce the number of times you may need to leave your home - allowing you to rest and recover. Fewer trips to an infusion center at the hospital for IV treatments means a reduced risk of contracting other illnesses, like the flu or COVID-19.

Who qualifies for home infusion therapy?

Home infusion therapy is covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Like any prescription medication, you will need a prescription written by a doctor. A physician must also write the orders for you to receive the services in your home.

What equipment or technology will you need to receive infusion therapy at home?

The pharmacy infusion team will provide the necessary equipment to you. This includes supplies to administer the medication which may include the use of a pump or other infusion device. The supplies you receive will depend on your condition and the medication you need.

Our commitment is to help you be in a comfortable environment as you work towards health.  Our team will work with you to manage all the details of your infusion care. We’ll seamlessly coordinate treatment between your providers, nurses, and of course, you and your family.

Ask your doctor if home infusion is right for you. You can also call us at 844-983-9647.
