Actions taken by Providence to address COVID-19

Emergency Operations Center: We have created a virtual emergency preparedness center across the Providence seven-state ecosystem to monitor and respond to the outbreak.

Home care monitoring program: We are working closely with our Emergency Departments optimize how to route and care for patients who may be infected with the coronavirus (e.g. discharge vs. admit).

Virtual chatbot symptom checker: In partnership with Microsoft, we have created a virtual chatbot to enable people to self-screen, and direct them to resources and recommendations to get the care they need.

Express Care Virtual: We are encouraging the usage of ExpressCare Virtual as a “front door” for patients to help keep sick people from leaving home and interacting with people who are currently well.

New screening criteria: We are are using CDC data to keep our patient screening tools used in inpatient and outpatient settings up-to-date in order to identify patient risk level as the virus evolves.

Testing: Despite the backlog of COVID-19 testing, we are working to expedite testing within our facilities to more quickly identify, treat and contain the spread of the virus.
