Spokane, Wash. — Providence Health Care invested more than $141 million in free or low-cost care, uncompensated care and funding for local community programs in 2019. This report highlights how Providence and its community partners benefited the community by focusing on the most urgent health and social issues affecting local communities.
“Our caregivers and community partners are investing in our communities’ most urgent and social needs,” said Peg Currie, chief operations officer for Providence Health Care. “Together, we have been able to serve our Medicaid populations by shifting care toward appropriate settings and serving our communities experiencing the greatest health and uninsured disparities.”
Community health investments include the costs of uncompensated care for Medicaid, free or low-cost care, and many other programs and initiatives focused on improving the health of local communities, increasing access to care and making care more affordable.
These strategic investments make it possible for people to live their healthiest lives and allow our communities to reinvest in other vital programs.
