Providence St. Joseph Hospital Orange and Providence Mission Hospital have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Cardiac Certification. Less than 25 hospitals nationwide share this distinction, and the sister ministries are the only two in Southern California to have accomplished this achievement.

Both hospitals underwent rigorous, unannounced onsite reviews in August. During the visits, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards including patient safety, quality of care delivery, and adherence to clinical practice guideline which is, delivering care according to the best and most recent medical evidence. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
