Medical Executive Committee updates

St. Peter:

Effective Oct. 26, 2023, the SW Community Mission Board approved the following:
Surgery Departmental Committee Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) Clinical Measures for Gynecology
 - The goal of OPPE is to help identify trends to ensure that standard of care and patient safety is being met or exceeded. The clinical measures selected by the department will help provide a qualitative and quantitative data-driven process to identity performance trends.
   1. Postoperative Hemorrhage or Hematoma with the exclusion of patients on anticoagulation/antiplatelets
   2. Abdominopelvic Accidental Puncture or Laceration

Revisions to the following policies/privilege request forms:
- Shadowing a Medical Staff Provider - Revised
- Fetal Monitoring during Non-emergent and Non-obstetric Surgery – Revised
- Radiation Oncology Privilege Request Form – Routine review. No changes recommended.
- Robotic-Assisted Surgery Policy – Revised
- Robotic First Assistant Policy – Revised

Centralia:

Effective Oct. 26, 2023, the SW Community Mission Board approved the following:
Revisions to the following policies/privilege request forms:
- Shadowing a Medical Staff Provider – Revised
- Sacral Nerve Stimulation for Urinary and Bowel Control – No changes
- Credentialing in the Event of an Emergency-Disaster-Revised

Rules & Regulations - Revision:
- Orders for a Course of Outpatient Treatment - Provider orders for a course of outpatient treatment may be written to remain in effect for a maximum of twelve (12) months.

The proposed revised PCH Medical Staff Bylaws and new Credentials & Procedural Policy and Medical Staff Organization Manual were endorsed by the SW Community Mission Board on 10/26/2023. The PCH MEC and Medical Staff Office will work to revise policies as needed.  Additionally, Medical Staff members will be transitioned to new medical staff categories, effective 1/1/2024. Letters with information regarding the new categories will be sent, via email, soon by Heather McClellan, PCH MSO Supervisor.
