Walla Walla, WA—More than 400 attendees turned out for the 14th annual Providence St. Mary Gran Fondo (Great Ride) fundraiser to benefit cancer patients Saturday, September 22. This year’s event was headquartered at Burwood Brewing Company in the Walla Walla Airport District. The title sponsor was Jackson Contractor Group, Inc.

More than $39,000 was raised to benefit the Cancer Special Needs Fund of Providence St. Mary Foundation and supports patients of the Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center. A cancer diagnosis is both emotionally and financially draining on a family. Patients may not have enough money to even afford gas to get to their medical appointments. The special needs fund bridges this gap. Patients in financial need can receive help with utilities, rent, gas, food and the many expenses that aren’t covered by insurance.

Participants in the event chose from two cycling tracks and a fun run/walk with a one-mile walk option. Afterwards, they enjoyed a festival with live music, food and handcrafted beverages from Burwood Brewing Company (lunch and one beverage was included with registration). Participants also used their Gran Fondo passport to visit our Airport District partners to enjoy special offers and treats. Participants are entered in a drawing to win two round-trip tickets on Alaska Airlines.

Special thanks goes out to the Foundation staff, event committee, volunteers and event partners, including Jackson Contractor Group, Alaska Airlines, Brainlab Inc., Brookdale, Columbia REA, Garrett Electric, InCyte Diagnostics, Key Technology, Pacific Power, Perkins Coie, Regency at the Park, Walla Walla Valley Honda, Bicycle Barn, Burwood Brewing Co., Cars.com, Clif Bars, Tate Transportation, Walla Walla Roastery, Adamant Cellars, Brushes ‘N’ Brix, Builder’s Resupply, Buty Winery, CAVU Cellars, DeBouche, Dunham Cellars, Brink Washington State & Eternal Wines, Hidden Valley Bakery and SYZYGY.
