October 13, 2022

Can Community Health Workers (CHWs) improve cancer care delivery? A recent study co-led by Providence researchers explored that question and found that for people with advanced cancer, regular home visits from CHWs reduced hospital trips and increased use of palliative care, among other benefits.

The study, co-led by David J. Park, M.D., of the Virginia K. Crosson Cancer Institute at Providence St. Jude Medical Center, was published in Jama Oncology and is featured in an article on the National Cancer Institute's website Cancer.com.
