Caregiver Resource Groups cultivate connection and belonging

At the Providence family of organizations, we work hard every day to achieve our promise to know, care for and ease the way for our patients and community. And our commitment doesn’t end there — it extends to caregivers (employees), too.

We see caregivers as the heart of our family. Our diverse Caregiver Resource Groups are just one way we show our commitment to supporting all our caregivers and generating a true sense of belonging.

What are Caregiver Resource Groups?

Caregiver Resource Groups (CRGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups centered around shared characteristics, experiences or perspectives. Some organizations call them employee resource groups or ERGs. CRGs create connections and community, foster a sense of belonging and help build a more inclusive, supportive workplace.

CRGs are open to all current caregivers— including those who don’t identify with a specific group but are eager to learn, support and show allyship. The current CRGs available are:

  • Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI)
  • BIPOC
  • Black
  • Disability
  • LatinX
  • LGBTQIA+
  • ProvNext (professional development)
  • Veterans
  • Women
  • Working moms

While each CRG is unique, many engage in similar activities, including monthly networking meetings, mentorship, community outreach and monthly observances.

From networking and skill building to education and professional growth, CRGs help promote an organizational culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace — something we cherish at the family of organizations.

The benefits of CRGs

Joining a CRG can help caregivers:

  • Build relationships with people outside of their department or division
  • Connect and collaborate with caregivers on systemwide and local initiatives
  • Enhance networking opportunities
  • Develop professional and interpersonal skills
  • Grow leadership capabilities
  • Increase visibility and exposure with senior leaders
  • Cultivate inclusivity and belonging in the workplace
  • Engage and support local communities
  • Learn from and gain an appreciation for the uniqueness of colleagues
  • Grow in allyship

If you are an aspiring caregiver, once you are employed, joining a CRG is one way to stay connected with others. Involvement with CRGs can add value to your work experience at the Providence family of organizations. But don’t just take our word for it — hear what caregivers say about CRG benefits.
