Providence statement on violence in the Holy Land

October 11, 2023

As we watch unimaginable atrocities unfold in the Holy Land – the brutal acts of terrorism and mounting loss of innocent life – Providence has been determining what we can do to help.

Thanks to the St. Joseph Health Community Partnership Fund, we are making a donation to our partners at Catholic Relief Services, which is on the ground now providing desperately needed humanitarian aid. If you feel called to make a gift as well, we invite you to visit the organization’s donation page here.

Our hearts are with the victims, their families and all those in harm's way, as well as our own caregivers and medical staff members who have close personal connections to the region.

Though we are half a world away from the fighting, news of the war affects us all. These are deeply troubling times, and we encourage everyone to please check on your friends, co-workers and neighbors. To all Providence caregivers, please remember, Providence offers a number of free mental health and spiritual care resources that are here for you if you need them.

Together, let us pray for peace and an end to suffering. May we each be a source of hope and healing in the world and collectively contribute to a future in which all people are free to live in harmony and safety.
