Advancing Health For All: Providence Health Plan partners with community organizations to support population health

President and CEO of Providence Health Plan presents Nathan Harris, Director of Community and Philanthropy at Oregon Food Bank with a $100,000 gift.

In 2023, Providence Health Plan (PHP) announced the Health For All initiative, a shared pursuit to care for one another equitably, recognize the cultural challenges in health care today and improve health outcomes for all. Kicking off the initiative, PHP donated more than $390,000 in funding and 1,000 hours of community service to Oregon Food Bank, North by Northeast Community Health Center and Central City Concernthree Portland organizations devoted to caring for the community with equitable access to nutritious food, primary care services and health education and housing needs.

The Oregon Food Bank’s mission is to eliminate hunger at its root cause because no one should be hungry. Oregon Food Bank believes that food and health are basic human rights for all. Hunger is a community-wide symptom of barriers to employment, education, housing and health care.

North by Northeast Community Health Center improves health outcomes and advances health equity by offering primary care services and health education focused on African American and Black communities in Portland Oregon. It serves as the primary care home for 875 patients.

Central City Concern works to address both the systemic drivers of homelessness and the individual factors that can reinforce it. It provides a comprehensive continuum of affordable housing options integrated with direct social services including health care, recovery and employment to serve more than 13,000 individuals each year.

“Taking care of a community takes a community,” said PHP President and CEO, Don Antonucci. “We’re proud to support and partner with these trusted local organizations that truly understand the needs of the community to provide accessible, equitable Health For All.”
