Providence Health & Services is strengthening its bonds with the largest cardiology group in the San Fernando Valley with the acquisition of two offices served by nine cardiologists from Foothill Cardiology/California Heart Medical Group.
Providence Medical Institute will manage the offices of nine board-certified, fellowship-trained cardiologists with expertise in interventional and electrophysiology subspecialties, under the terms of an agreement that takes effect Dec. 1. These physicians already are on staff at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and many have held leadership positions there since 1983.
The goal is to solidify the team approach to caring for individual patients with strong ties between the hospital and physicians, shared medical records and coordinated patient care.
Many of the cardiologists are members of Providence Partners for Health, an organization formed in 2012 to promote comprehensive care. Some of the cardiologists also have been actively involved with Providence Saint Joseph’s Foundation, helping to raise funding for equipment programs and other needs.
Providence Medical Institute, a physician group within Providence, will employ the staff, assume the two office leases, purchase the assets and otherwise align with the physicians who will be a part of Providence Specialty Medical Group.
The two offices being acquired will be rebranded as Providence Medical Institute Cardiology, effective Dec. 1. The physicians will maintain their privileges to treat patients at other hospitals in the area.
