Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers San Pedro and Torrance earn "A" rating in Patient Safety

December 29, 2017

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers San Pedro and Torrance were recognized for a third straight time by The Leapfrog Group for earning an “A” grade for Patient Safety.

“Everyone in the entire hospital shares this recognition,” said Jeremy Baker, the Providence Little Company of Mary’s director of quality and safety. “It’s a complete commitment across the board.”

The Leapfrog Group has rigorous standards used each year in its semi-annual grading system. Infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors all play roles in how a hospital is scored. In November, the both hospitals earned “As” in safety from Leapfrog, applicable to general acute care hospital only and reflective of safety record based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid as well as other sources.
