She has worked in the family violence sector, child protective services, the prison system, inpatient psychiatric hospital and associated outpatient programs, and private practice therapy. She has undertaken internships in ER and hospice settings. She enjoys using a mixture of different therapeutic modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), compassion focused therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Sarah is passionate about providing affirming care with curiosity, sensitivity, and respect. Sarah likes to drink tea and give away her home-grown vegetables and fruits to her neighbors. In her over 30 years of experience in the field, Dawn has had the privilege of working with people of all ages and walks of life. Having spent many years in the health care sector, she has a passion for supporting first responders and other health care providers. With all her patients, Dawn approaches their stories with respect, humor, warmth, and a comprehensive understanding of evidence-based therapeutic tools. She is comfortable working with individuals and couples, adolescents and adults who might be struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, or situational stressors. Dawn has experience working with adults who have ADHD and those on the autism spectrum, BIPOC individuals, and members of LGBTQIA+ communities. She has advanced training in Mindfulness Facilitation; Nutrition and Integrative Mental Health; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Autism; Written Exposure Therapy; and trauma treatment. Dawn earned her Master of Social Work degree from New Mexico State University.
