Visitor policy update for patients in labor and delivery
In light of the decreasing number of cases of COVID-19, two healthy people may now support a patient throughout labor and immediate recovery period. After the recovery period, the visitor policy for maternity patients will be the same as for other areas of the hospital. No other changes are being made to our visitor policy at this time.

New patient/visitor screening protocol
Providence has made some changes to our building screening processes. We are longer taking temperatures at screening stations. We are committed to COVID symptom screening of patients as they arrive for their appointment. As we are at nearly a year into this process, we have learned that reviewing symptoms is the most effective screening tool. At many sites we no longer include temperature screening for patients and now have enhanced symptom screening questions.

Patient vaccine updates

  • As of March 1, patients aged 65 and older will be eligible to receive COVID vaccine. During the past few weeks, we’ve sent letters to patients 65 and older.
  • A patient letter previously available only in English is now available in Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
  • We will pause to await guidance from the state regarding new eligibility groups. Each week the following communication is sent for new eligibility groups:
    • MyChart message
    • mPulse phone and text outreach
  • Other things items we have implemented or are working on include:
    • Supportive scheduling (waitlist) workflow for clinics
    • The Vaccine Access Workgroup is working to identify strategies to reduce barriers to vaccination
