HealthBreak | Primary Care Medicine in Polson

Family Medicine doctors care for patients throughout their lifetimes. "I came back to Montana because it's the place that I know and love," says TJ Sherry, MD - Providence St. Joseph Medical Center's newest family medicine physician in Polson, Montana. "It's the place that I know and I love - I'm from here." "I came back to work in a rural setting, to help patients I know," Dr. Sherry explains. "And to live in a community that I know and love." As a primary care provider, Dr. Sherry cares for Western Montana patients - in sickness and in health. "My role is all-inclusive and holistic," he says. "It starts at birth, and goes all they way up through geriatrics and end-of-life care, with multiple procedures and preventive medicine care along with any aspects of acute aspects of illness or sickness, to help keep my patients out of the hospital." Dr. Sherry's clinic is located in Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, which offers many advantages to patients. "If I have an acute situation, I can go and speak with the Emergency Room provider - let them know the history, what is going on and decide whether they need to be seen there," says Dr. Sherry. "And if they do, it's a quick transition over there." The opposite is true as well. "If the ER or walk-in clinic has a question about a patient of mine, they usually just come find me, and I can see them right away. It helps keep that continuity of care," he says.
