HealthBreak | Missoula Family Birth Education Classes

May 4, 2017

"As pregnancy progresses, women's' excitement for birth really intensifies," shares Ange Anderson, family and childbirth educator at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Western Montana. "But their anxiousness about birth also intensifies." To ease anxiety, Providence offers family birth education classes - free of charge - to all families delivering at the Missoula hospital birth center. "Knowing what to expect in childbirth helps make a more healthy, empowering experience of your baby's birth," Anderson explains. "We mix lecture with practical exercises. Each class, covers a specific topic that relates to either preparing for labor, labor and birth process, or post partum recovery. We have time each class to practice our exercises and relaxation methods." Ange continues, "We dedicate the last class exclusively to practical exercise - it's almost a walk-through of what to expect in labor, plus the types of body postures, breathing, massage, partner support - that can add comfort to the experience."
