Alaska CARES' holistic treatment helps young abuse victims recover and thrive

Alaska Child Abuse Response & Evaluation Services, also known as Alaska CARES, is a program sponsored by Providence Health & Services Alaska. The program focuses on helping coordinate a response to the maltreatment of a child with compassion and cultural sensitivity. The Children’s Hospital at Providence in Anchorage coordinates the treatment where several organizations use their expertise to assess, plan and manage the care for victims and the law enforcement response.

"All the different agencies that are in the building are purposefully here because we are all working together to support children and families," says Jessica Nichols, Alaska CARES' assistant manager.
