Providence St. Vincent receives sixth Magnet designation
Congratulations to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center for achieving Magnet recognition six consecutive times, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to nursing excellence and to its patients. This redesignation makes Providence St. Vincent the 12th hospital in the world and the only one in the Providence system to obtain Magnet designation six times. Magnet recognition is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. Providence St. Vincent first attained primary designation in 2000.
Join us Aug. 13 for Providence Bridge Pedal and Stride
Cyclists of all abilities and walkers can enjoy Portland’s iconic bridges without cars during this beloved community tradition. This year’s event will be held Sunday, Aug. 13 and will include a celebration of the Fremont Bridge, which turns 50 this year. Enjoy unparalleled views from the top deck of the Fremont Bridge, as well as the Marquam, Hawthorne, Morrison, Ross Island and Steel bridges. For those who prefer to walk, Providence Bridge Stride is a 5-mile walk crossing the Fremont and Steel bridges.

Providence’s cardio-oncology program wins award
The Providence Jack Loacker Center for Cardio-Oncology was awarded a Silver Center of Excellence Award through the International Cardio-Oncology Society. The program is the first in Oregon and only the third program west of the Mississippi to receive this recognition. The program signifies an exceptionally high concentration of expertise and related resources delivering care in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary fashion to afford the best patient outcomes possible.
Providence Cancer Institute researchers participate in international meeting
Earlier this summer, oncology professionals from around the world gathered at the 2023 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Chicago. Providence Cancer Institute researchers attended, contributing to more than 20 studies selected for presentation in poster sessions, poster discussions, an oral abstract session and a plenary session.
