A "Game Changer" for Stroke Treatment

Providence stroke experts weigh in on the impact of recent research that will dramatically increase providers' ability to treat acute stroke:

The word "breakthrough" gets tossed around a lot in health news.  But this update on stroke treament might just deserve such a big adjective.  Dr. Ted Lowenkopf, medical director for the Providence Stroke Center,  describes it as "practice-changing" in his recent article reviewing the results of the DAWN and DEFUSE 3 stroke trials.  And Dr. Amit Kansara, associate medical director for Providence Telestroke, says in his interviews with KGW 8 and KATU news that this advancement could more than  double the number of patients eligible for life-saving stroke treatment.
