Is Kombucha healthy?

Kombucha is a fizzy, fermented tea containing probiotics, antioxidants and other health-promoting properties to help improve wellness.

If you’ve ever sipped kombucha and wondered what makes it healthy, you’re probably not alone. Kombucha is a fermented drink made up of green or black tea, yeast, sugar and possibly flavorings or juice, depending on the recipe. It can take on many different tastes, but at its base, kombucha is slightly tart and a little bit sweet, similar to a light fruity or floral cider.

The mixture of ingredients creates a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, or SCOBY. This is what gives the beverage its unique fizz and tanginess. Kombucha contains healthy probiotic bacteria and B vitamins, as well as a small amount of alcohol, a byproduct of the fermentation process,
