Meet Your Leaders

Brian Helleland serves as chief of clinical programs and operations (CCPO) for Southern California. Formerly chief executive for Providence St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Brian began his new role on May 17, and is a dyad partner to Susan Huang, M.D., chief medical officer.

In his new role, Brian has regional, cross-continuum oversight of clinical care delivery, including strategic planning and direction for all clinical services such as clinical institutes, nursing, quality, ancillary services, infection prevention, care coordination, clinical operations, care management, social services and clinical documentation. He will also partner with the Physician Enterprise and our Ambulatory Care Network to help develop and grow our medical group and affiliated physicians to enhance affordability, access and quality of services. This will strengthen our integrated delivery network, ensuring that patients have a seamless experience across the continuum - from a medical office appointment to an inpatient stay at an acute care ministry.

As a long-standing chief executive, Brian has a deep understanding of clinical operations, nursing and ancillary services. He also brings a wealth of experience in building clinical programs and services in collaboration with nursing, physician and community partners.

During his 15 years at Providence St. Jude, serving the past four years as chief executive, Brian shaped a culture focused on demonstrating quality, operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility. As a result, Providence St. Jude has earned national recognition, including a 5-star CMS rating for three consecutive years and was ranked among the top 2% of hospitals nationwide by Healthgrades.

Equally important is Brian’s dedication to our Mission and values, and his unwavering passion for building a culture of servant leadership. As a result, Providence St. Jude’s culture exemplifies the Providence promise: Know me, care for me, ease my way. Modern Healthcare named Providence St. Jude a “2020 Best Places to Work” because of its culture and work environment.
