Washington: Things to know for Eastern Washington

March 24, 2020 Providence News Team

Beginning with our founding sisters more than 130 years ago, Providence continues to step up to meet the needs of our communities. Today is no different. Our response to COVID-19 has been swift, and we have adapted at a remarkable pace. Even before we treated the first patient diagnosed with COVID-19 in the U.S. and cared for patients in our Special Pathogens Unit, we have been preparing for times like these. We continue these preparations in our hospitals and clinics for each new phase of this crisis.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and have a fever and respiratory symptoms, consider a virtual care visit that allows you to stay home:

Visit ExpressCare Virtual.

Providence Health Care is committed to caring for our community and is taking important steps to keep patients and caregivers safe. This continues to be a great team effort in partnership with other health organizations, Spokane Regional Health District and several local, state and federal partners.

Our community can be proud of our collaborative, caring spirit, and all who partner to care for people in need.

Visitor restrictions - In accordance with CDC recommendations, no visitors will be allowed at our hospital campuses, (with some exceptions for labor and delivery, minor patients and end-of-life care). During this time, we encourage our patients and their loved ones to communicate through phone and video calls.

Reducing hospital entry points - Visitors will be screened at the main entrances prior to entering. Anyone who exhibits cold or flu-like symptoms, or has a fever will be asked to return home.

Postponing non-life threatening and non-urgent inpatient and outpatient surgeries - to preserve capacity to meet the acute health care needs of our patients, we have decided to postpone inpatient and outpatient surgeries and procedures for care at our ministries, effective Thursday, March 19.

Designating two Providence Urgent Care locations for patients with fever & respiratory symptoms – to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and dedicate critical and limited resources to those who need the most care, patients experiencing respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) should visit these urgent care locations:

  • 421 S. Division St., Spokane (509) 474-2100
  • 551 E. Hawthorne Rd., Spokane (509) 489-2369

Patients that need urgent care and do not have respiratory issues should visit Providence Medical Park at 16528 E. Desmet Ct., Spokane Valley. Please note, we will screen for fevers and no one will be able to enter this location with a fever above 99.9 or if they have any respiratory symptoms.

Temporarily closing Providence ExpressCare clinics for in-person care - in order to see more patients through video-conferencing, we have transitioned health providers to see patients through ExpressCare Virtual.
