Information about visiting St. Mary and medical clinics

Visitation

Providence St. Mary and the Providence Medical Group may ease or restrict visitors based on the incidence of infectious diseases in the community.  Below are the rules that are currently in place. Masking is recommended to protect patients, visitors and caregivers, but is not required at this time except for patients with transmittable diseases and visitors to those patients.

In the hospital

Hospital visiting hours are 8 am to 8:30 pm.

Patients may have up to four support persons in the room at a time, six per day who may rotate and may vary by day.

Children regardless of age can visit most departments including the Family Birth Center and must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children may not be left unattended in the hospital or clinic waiting rooms or other areas.

A visitor under the age of 12 does not count towards the total allowed number of visitors per day, but the number of people at the bedside including children must not exceed four.

Exceptions

  • End of Life and Comfort Care: Patients may have up to four support persons in the room at a time like with any other patient, but there is no daily limit. Support persons my rotate throughout the day.
  • COVID Patients: Visitation is limited to one adult support person at a time throughout the course of the patient’s stay and may switch off each day. No one under the age of 18 may visit a COVID patient. Pediatric COVID patients may have up to two visitors in the room at a time. The support person is to remain in the patient’s room for the duration of the visit and may not go to other areas in the hospital. Visitors to COVID patients should be aware that visiting may be a risk to their personal health. People with a high risk for severe illness from COVID-19, such as older adults, people who are unvaccinated, and those with underlying medical conditions are strongly advised to communicate electronically instead of visiting in person.
  • Surgery & Procedure Center

Each patient may have two support persons with them or in the waiting room during their surgical experience including at discharge to provide appropriate instructions.

  • Emergency Department

A patient waiting or admitted to the Emergency Department may have up to two support persons with them at a time. The support persons may switch out if needed.

  • Clinics including primary care, specialties, and outpatient imaging

Patients may have two care partners/visitors in the exam room at one time. Adults may bring a child with them to an appointment if necessary. The child must accompany the adult at all times.
