Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center Visitation Guidelines

We are honored you have entrusted us to care for your loved ones. Our priority is the safety of all who enter our medical center and to ensure the support and well-being of our patients.

Guidelines for Visitation:

  • We support open visitation, allowing visitors at any time. However, we observe quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.  It is encouraged that visitation occur outside of quiet hours to promote a restful and healing environment. Visitors on the premises during quiet hours are required to limit their location in the hospital, by staying primarily in the patient’s room and immediate vicinity.
  • During respiratory virus season (Nov. 1, 2024 - April 30, 2025), visitors must be 12 years of age and older, as young children are more likely to carry contagious illness. Visitors under 12 may be permitted in maternity only if they are siblings of the newborn. They must wear a face mask during their visit.
  • Visitors who are acutely ill are asked to refrain from visiting to protect our caregivers and other visitors.
  • Visitors may be limited or asked to leave the patient’s room at the discretion of the nurse or provider if patient safety is affected. If a patient is in a semi-private room, visitors are not encouraged to spend the night in the patient’s room.
  • Visitors may be removed for inappropriate behavior such as loud activities which disrupt other patients and/or cause anxiety, including but not limited to any activity which threatens the safety of any and all persons; bringing in non-prescribed-medications, tobacco products, or alcohol to patients; not maintaining control of children brought onto the premises; and/or long term eating and sleeping activities in public areas of the hospital without specific permission from the Administrative Supervisor.

Additional Guidelines:

  • Visitors are not allowed in restricted areas (such as inside operating and/or procedural rooms) unless accompanied by a hospital caregiver. In the preoperative admission and recovery process, one visitor is permitted at a time but may be adjusted based on the patient's condition. Two visitors are permitted with patients under the age of 18 years old.
  • Visitors are welcome in the Emergency Department. However, visitors may be restricted depending on patient flow and the condition of the patient. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
  • Patients requiring a cesarean section will be allowed one adult support person in the Operating Room; this decision is at the discretion of the anesthesiologist and obstetrician caring for the patient.
  • For surrogate mothers, both legal parents will be allowed in the delivery room provided the patient is medically stable.
  • NICU visitation guidelines will be reviewed upon admission.

Please note that this visitation policy is subject to change and may be adjusted at any time to ensure the safety of caregivers, providers, patients and other visitors.  For more detailed information, you may request a copy of our Visitation Policy.
