NAPA (Dec. 17, 2025) – For the second consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center for high performance in maternity care with an award that measures quality and safety for mother and baby For the 2026 ratings, U.S News evaluated nearly 900 hospitals nationwide

U.S. News began evaluating maternity care hospitals in 2021, rating hospitals that provide labor and delivery services and submit detailed data to the publication for analysis. Best Hospitals for Maternity Care assists expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity services that best meets their family’s needs.

We take pride in the personalized, compassionate care we provide to new mothers before, during and after delivery,” said Amy Herold, M.D., OB/GYN, chief administrative officer and chief medical officer at Queen of the Valley, which offers the only labor and delivery unit in Napa County. “We are honored to receive this recognition for the second year in a row!”

Providence Queen of the Valley earned a High Performing designation in recognition of maternity care based on exemplary performance on a range of objective quality measures, such as rates of avoidable Cesarean-sections, exclusive breast milk feeding, unexpected newborn complication rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities.

“The hospitals recognized by U.S. News as Best Hospitals for Maternity Care showcase exceptional care for expectant parents,” said Jennifer Winston, Ph.D., health data scientist at U.S. News. “These hospitals demonstrate significantly lower C-section rates and severe unexpected newborn complications compared to hospitals not recognized by U.S. News.”

Queen of the Valley was also named a High Performing hospital for hip fracture, kidney failure, and pacemaker implantation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 Best Hospitals edition, released earlier this year.
